2018 MEP Center Best Practices Conference

The 2018 Center Best Practice Conference, is scheduled for Sept. 12-14 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri. This biennial conference will serve as a training venue for the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Centers to share and receive best practice(s) with MEP Center colleagues.
Attendees of this event, will include the national network of hundreds of MEP specialists who understand the needs of America’s small manufacturers. The nationwide network consists of manufacturing extension partnership centers located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, offices of which work with more than 30,000 manufacturers per year.
The CBPC is MEP Center-driven, and MEP Center-led; meaning the MEP National Network of manufacturing specialists, determine the tracks and best practices that be showcased. The attendees help structure the content of the conference and the Foundation simply facilitates it. The CBPC will serve as a training venue for MEP Center leaders to share and receive best practice(s) with MEP Center colleagues. This type of conference is intended to be Center-driven and Center-led.
The Foundation for Manufacturing Excellence, a subsidiary of ASMC, will host the conference in coordination with the September NIST-MEP Update Meeting.
Who should attend?
All MEP Center staff. Regardless of your membership status with ASMC and/or the Foundation of Manufacturing Excellence, all MEP Center staff are encouraged to attend.
As the only type of conference available for MEP Center staff, the CBPC will serve as a training venue for MEP Center to share and receive best practices with MEP Center colleagues.
What is a Best Practice?
A process, strategy, or innovative use of resources that has resulted in exceptional and measurable improvement in the operation or performance of manufacturers served by a presenting MEP Center. These Best Practices will have demonstrated success by creating client cost savings, job creation, investment in modernization, increased sales, innovation, etc.
Best Practices will be documented and presented for other MEP Centers to potentially adapt this practice/service and garner success in their own environment.
